Registered Nurse Career Opportunity

Purpose Statement:

The purpose of the Registered Nurse is to assess physical health needs; make appropriate referrals to community physicians; manage and administer medication in conjunction with the psychiatrist; provide a range of treatment, rehabilitation, and support services; and share shift management responsibility with other staff.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing the medication system in conjunction with the psychiatrist, administering and documenting medication treatment

  • Screening and monitoring the beneficiary for medical problems and side effects 

  • Engaging in health promotion, prevention, and education activities

  • Communicating and coordinating services with other medical providers

  • Educating team in monitoring psychiatric symptoms and medication side effects

Job Requirements: 

  • Licensed registered nurse in North Carolina 

  • May have a master’s, bachelor’s, or associate degree in nursing, must be a licensed registered nurse. Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residences; work in market jobs; and have access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous support and services. Skills and competence to establish supportive trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illness and respect for client rights and personal preferences in treatment are essential. Must have a valid driver’s license for North Carolina.
